Are there better parts..Yes of course (always). Anyways, to the point.I started with a different bike and was not satisfied at all. I did not know anything about bikes when I first started looking to commute to work, this made it really hard to find what I needed. I finally wound up going to a sporting store and spoke with one of their tech's. He helped me understand what I was looking for and the right size. I of course was going to buy it there but they did not have the size I needed, so here I am again at Amazon. This bike is a smooth ride and really feels like you are getting a good amount of movement for the energy you are exerting. I believe the bike to made of quality parts and everything goes well together and it was easy to put together. It comes with tools needed to build (as it should for hundreds of dollars, for anything). We bought them to enjoy the summer riding together in the park and around town. We're going to Cape Cod for a week this summer and we're bringing the bikes. We took a weekend for bike shopping going through all the major department stores and sport stores. As soon as I tried this bike I knew it was it. We bought the bike already assembled at the store. They're very comfortable with a smooth ride. At first I thought I would have to replace the seat on the 2012 bike because it seemed like it would not provide the comfort I wanted. After riding it the first time, there is absolutely no need to replace it, it's a great seat. It's a pleasure to ride this bike. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because of the shifters. They don't shift well and the chain has come off a few times. I'm going to take the bike back to the store to have it serviced but from what I've read of other reviews, the shifters are not...
